Boulders Beach Penguins

Boulders Bay colony of African Penguins is one of the most accessible in Africa. Boulders Beach is only short drive from Hout Bay and here you can take the walkways and get up close to hundreds of of these birds in their tuxedos. Very cute.

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens

Kirstenbosch is an important botanical garden nestled at the eastern foot of Table Mountain in Cape Town. Kirstenbosch places a strong emphasis on the cultivation of indigenous plants. When Kirstenbosch was founded in 1913 to preserve the flora native to the South Africa’s territory, it was the first botanical garden in the world with this ethos, at a time when invasive species were not considered an ecological and environmental problem.

The garden includes a large conservatory (The Botanical Society Conservatory) exhibiting plants from a number of different regions, including savanna, fynbos, karoo and others. Outdoors, the focus is on plants native to the Cape region, highlighted by the spectacular collections of proteas.

Robben Island

The tour starts not far from your accommodation where you can spend some time going through the Nelson Mandela Museum which is situated where the ferry leaves. Robben Island is the place where Nelson Mandela and others were kept in hard labor captivity for so long. We take a ferry to the Island where ex-inmates run the tour, giving you an authentic insight to conditions, survival and finally freedom.

Table Mountain Cable Car to the Top

One of the 7 natural wonders of the world. It begins with the famous cable car ride to the top. This is an experience in itself with stunning views that cover Cape Town, the coastline and rugged mountains. Once on top you can explore the different flora and fauna (Dasies everywhere) and chose different trekking paths and views before descending once more just before sunset.

Signal Hill Sundowner

Signature Hill is part of the Table Mountain range and is a terrific spot to watch the sunset and the dazzling light of Cape Town emerge over this magical city.

After activity

After sundowners we will return you to your accommodation to refresh before dinner.

Kigali Genocide Memorial

This is an extremely moving, challenging, educational and ultimately inspiring memorial and great place to understand the cause, tragedy and successful rebuilding of Rwanda post genocide.

The reconciliation and rebuilding has been miraculous and these memorials are built to inform, educate and prevent such a tragedy to ever occur again.

The tour is very transparent and educational but very somber and humbling when you realize that over 250,000 deceased are buried on the site of the memorial. Guaranteed you will feel every emotion during this visit.

The most common question that goes through your mind is “would I be capable of that level of forgiveness if I found myself in this situation”. That’s true inspiration.

2nd Mountain Gorilla Trek ($1,500 USD pp)

Today you have a unique and privileged experience to trek and meet at close quarters the rare Mountain Gorilla. We have got a chance to chose a group of our choice on this trek with the help of the driver Guide. There are only around 1063 of these magnificent creatures left in the world with around 1/3 of those in Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda.

The trek can take between 2-6 hours depending on the movements of the Gorillas. This is considered one of the great natural animal encounters on the planet.

The rangers will lead you deep into the forest in search for the Gorillas. You will move up and down the rugged terrain until you finally meet these harmonious creatures that will entertain you with performances for about 1 hour once you find them.

Golden Monkey Trek ($110 USD pp)

It's a short drive to the Volcanoes National Park Headquarters to register and receive your briefing for the trek. Then you will be transferred to the starting point of the trek. Golden Monkey's on average are a much easier trek than the Mountain Gorillas, but of course occasionally nature doesn't cooperate. Like the Mountain Gorillas you will get to spend an hour with these active, unique and beautiful monkeys which are quite rare. Rwanda has probably the most accessible troops of Golden Monkey's in East Africa.

Dian Fossey Tomb Trek ($85 USD pp)

This courageous and dedicated pioneer was an amazing pioneer researcher, and we visit the research camp, gravesite, and the Gorilla graveyard where here beloved "Digit" and other Gorillas lie side by side.

The trek begins by walking through the traditional farmlands and then up into the Volcanoes Mountain. The ascent is quite beautiful and full of interesting forest flora and views of neighboring mountain peaks. After an ascent of around 3 hours, you will camp across the remains of Dian's research camp. The ranger will show you around the different ruins and explain their significance before you finalizing arrive at the gorilla graveyard and Dian's tomb. It's a very touching and moving honor to pay respects to Dian buried next to her beloved Gorillas.

The descent takes you back down through the forest and flora, with tremendous views before the final stretch through the farmlands where your driver and guide will be waiting.

Mukungwa River Canoe Experience ($70 USD pp)

This short excursion near Rwanda’s famous gorillas is the perfect way to see the lush countryside for which this beautiful country is so famous! Peacefully spending 2½ - 3 hours on the water, you’ll be surrounded by numerous species of birds, meet friendly communities and witness rural life as you pass by. And if you are lucky, you may also see the otters.

Most of the trip is on gentle, flat water that is perfect for relaxing and soaking up the scenery. There is just one small rapid (that can be easily walked around) and a short section of faster-moving water that adds a little excitement to make a fun and enjoyable trip.

After this amazing activity, you will return to your accommodation for relaxing with accommodation facilities, dinner and overnight.

Authentic Community Village Walk Experience ($45 USD pp)

The tour starts by the breathtaking view of the volcanoes NP proceeding with visiting local village homes, local food preparation (from lighting a fire until food is completely prepared), traditional music instruments playing: Zither playing (Inanga), music bow (umuduri), one of stringed-fiddle, weaving experience, traditional dance and Intore, grinding sorghum using a grinding stone, a stopover at Gasura kindergarten one of the projects that the tours fund in the way of giving back to the community.

It is an amazing experience, as you will see how Rwandans live in their villages on daily basis. The duration of the walk takes roughly 2 hours to 3 hours depending on your preference or physical fitness.
